The house is only a 2 bedroom house. This will mean I will only be able to foster one child at a time. I feel that every child should have their own bedroom as a space that is theirs if they want privacy. As for what freedoms that child will have, this will depend on age, and maturity level. I will likely give more freedom to a mature 13 year old than an immature 16 year old. Yes, I know there is the “I am always right” stage of life known as teenager years, but this will have to be tempered, and I will definitely challenge that always right notion.
If I was to acquire a foster child, I will provide them with all that they will need. Some of the resources will be their’s to keep. Other resources will only be available to them while they live with me. The foster child will learn which resource is their’s and which is just for their use. For example, I will buy the child a school package which will include a computer, phone, and other items. These will be theirs no matter how long they stayed with me. I will obviously decide what they will receive, but everything will be enough to allow them to do what they will need.
Other resources will be theirs, but will require the intervention on the future guardian. For example, I will set up a bank account for the foster child. I will have management privileges since I am the guardian. If they were to leave my custody, then the next guardian will have to take over on that manager position. Another example will be their photo ID card. It will have to change from my address to the new address.
Examples of resources they will not be able to take with them will include the NAS, and the printer. Both will be available to them as long as they live with me, but when they leave, they will lose access to the NAS and printer. This will be expected as these items were never their’s and just for them to use.
